I wandered in here for a take away lunch. After checking out the menu, I decided on a two-item combo with lava chicken and teri chicken. They accepted credit card/Apple Pay. The lady told me it would be done in less than 10 minutes, and it was! Lava chicken - very very thin chicken meat. Not sure how this would be different from katsu chicken. Teri chicken - they actually gave me chicken breast !? The chicken breast meat was dry ngl but was ok with the lava sauce, which was given on the side. There was another piece that was dark meat, so that was better. Mac salad - THIS WAS SO GOOD. hot damn White rice - good. Plenty of parking in the lot. Bathroom inside the restaurant. I would come back.

Homestyle Hawaiian serves up delicious food with generous portions! I've tried the katsu chicken, Korean chicken, lava chicken, teriyaki chicken, and kalua pig, and each one was fantastic. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a tie between the Korean chicken and the lava chicken. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend trying one of these; the flavors are amazing and offer a unique and delicious twist on chicken. Don't miss the fried spam musubi--it's delicious and could honestly fill you up on its own with its deep-fried goodness and savory sauce.

Food wasn't bad, and portions are big. This restaurant seems to be a place that accommodates go orders more than dine-in. They do have a small dining area. However, they do not offer water cups, and trash is even located outside -- so it's not very dine in friendly. The teriyaki beef was flavored well but was overcooked and touch to chew. I liked their spicy poke bowl, but it doesn't come with rice, so you'll need to add it on the side for $1.50 That said, food is pretty good and at a good price, so I'll continue coming here to go. I would not recommend dining in, though.

One of my go-to Hawaiian spots in SD. My favorite dish is their Korean chicken 5/5. Other dishes are 3/5 to 4/5. Loco moco brown gravy is good but the beef patty is too dense. Regular Hawaiian dishes such as teri chicken, teri beef, kalua pork, short ribs, spam musubi, etc are all tasty. Lava chicken is really good - chicken katsu with spicy "lava" sauce. Mac salad is solid. Green salad is actually really good. You order at the counter and they pack everything to go. Not the fastest place, but everything is cooked to order so you know it's fresh.

Bang for your buck Hawaiian food! The chicken katsu portion was HUGE and the chicken was nice and crispy. It was so filling it was 2 solid meals for me. The fried spam musubi was delicious, honestly could fill you up itself because its deep fried and covered in sauce. Next time we would pass on the burger because it was nothing special and a bit overcooked. Overall, if you order the right things it's so worth it.

When I am craving Hawaiian food, this is my go to spot! I always get the Korean chicken & it's just perfectly crispy every single time. The sauce is very flavorful as well. Service is always great, however, food can be a bit slow to come out sometimes. I think they make everything fresh so it's worth the wait. The interior is small and cozy. There are only a couple tables but I haven't had trouble finding any seating. my friends ordered the combo plates and mac salad which they said was really good!

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Love the food!! We'll make sure to stop by here every time we're in SD. Too bad we don't have this in LA!! Shrimp scampi is seriously garlicky but was lacking in salt but the lava chicken, HEAVENLY!! That sauce something different. Also tried the butterbeer dirty soda, bomb!!

They serve Dole whip here!!! Ahem.. excuse me. I grew up eating at a local Hawaiian joint back in Long Beach and Homestyle hits that same delicious sweet spot. The katsu here is superb and they always pack it up so you have more than enough to chow on. There's always people waiting for food in the lot so I recommend calling in cuz its always busy!
